It's Scrumdiddlyumptious! {Birthday}

Here are just a few detail shots of a Willy Wonka-themed birthday party I threw. Everything was DIY, but it was well worth it.

Everyone was pretty excited when they received the invites:

The food all came out delicious, if I do say so myself.

And of course, what would a Willy Wonka party be without Wonka candy?

Thanks to everyone who came and participated! And a big thank you to my husband, who indulges and supports me in my crazy party-planning madness.

Expelliarmus! {Birthdays}

~ Geek Alert! ~
You are about to get a glimpse into our geekiness...

Art and I are both huge Harry Potter fans. My older sister is too, and her and Art's birthdays are just a few days apart. So when it came time to plan a celebration with the family, we decided to combine their birthdays and go with a Harry Potter theme. My brother-in-law took care of the evening's delicious dinner and I was in charge of all the HP-themed treats and activities.

Not everyone in my family is a huge HP geek, but every single one of them participated to some extent and I love them for it! It made for such a fun night.

Invites were delivered by owl:

We aren't posting photos of every character that showed up, but here are a few:

Me, with the birthday boy. I love him, even though he's a Slytherin:

Diana's Day of the Dead {Birthday}

 The picture below is an appropriate one to begin this post. Diana put on an amazing Halloween costume party for her birthday, with a Day of the Dead/blood/gore theme. So if those things make you squeamish, you've been warned.

Diana, Diana, Diana... I don't even know where to begin. This woman should go into the event planning business. She orchestrated this whole event, making a lot of the decor herself, setting it all up, etc. There was food, dancing, a costume contest with awesome prizes... And everything was done so well. My hat goes off to her.
By the way, isn't her makeup (which she did herself), gorgeous?!

Below is Diana with her sisters. Good looks run in the family!

The details... Oh! The details! Diana put so much work into so many creative details. I had a hard time choosing just a few to include in this post.

Her bouquet:

I had to include this guest's shoes, because they fit the theme so well. Love them!

Happy birthday Diana! And congratulations on throwing such a fun and successful party!

Zinnia & Sifa {Wedding}

Can you guess what cute little family that is below?

Well, if you couldn't tell from the title of the post, it's Zinnia and Sifa, along with baby Lia. We shared their maternity and newborn photos previously. Isn't Lia growing to be such a beautiful baby?!

Last year, Zinnia and Sifa were married. Early this year, they welcomed Lia into their family. And just recently, the three of them were sealed together as a family for time and all eternity in the LDS Los Angeles Temple. The private ceremony took place in the morning, and it was such a sweet and touching event.

Then in the evening, it was time to party! Their reception was a complete family affair. Everyone came together to make it a fun and beautiful DIY wedding.
Sifa's sisters performed a song for the couple, and it was so lovely. They all have such gorgeous voices!

The look that passed between these two was so tender:

I LOVED the florals.

Zinnia and Sifa spent many hours folding cranes, and I think it was well worth it.

Sassy shoes!

I included this last photo, not because I'm in it, but to show off how radiant Zinnia looked in her beautiful dress.

It was such a fun evening! Congratulations to Zinnia, Sifa and Lia. They are a wonderful family and we love them so much!
